The Phoenix School of Wizardry and Warders Campaign story line…
To summarize, you will be starting off just shy of adulthood, attending a school for the gifted. The schools primary focus
and renown is for Wizards but that is not ALL that is taught there. You will not be adult in age no matter the race. Your
family will have to be detailed out to some extent. If your parents are not wealthy a scholarship fund will need to be detailed
due to ability. DM note: with several wizards in the party our knowledge of 3rd edition spells system SHOULD increase.
The story takes place in a School much like a well-known series of books about a boy wizard. The party all start off as young
adults and still communicate with parent/guardian. The PCs first level class is chosen by them, the second will be depend
on which part of the school they are training/learning in Wizard or Meat shield (fighter or holy warrior or ranger or barbarian).
You live on campus and are expected to follow the school rules. For fun NOT all of the school rules have been posted to the
PCs. Rules the party learned first night, Do not cast 1st level spells or higher without a professor present. Do
not leave the campus (to go to Loc-Nar) except on Weekend between 12-5pm and finally do not burn or otherwise destroy school
property even if you feel it is yours (your bed sheets). Consequences for breaking school rules vary but be warned truth rings
exist in Trell.
The forbidden forest is named that for the student’s protection. The experience points given were scaled down for
several reasons, one of which is third editions system is very scaled down and I also did not want any PCs who cannot make
it 100% of the time to be one level behind per adventure they miss. MANY of the Harry Potter characters will be the same in
this campaign. My memory of them or use for them in a D&D campaign setting will differ from the books, so please do not
RELY on your knowledge of any particular character to act exactly how you would expect them to our how they always have acted.
I will change many sub plots to fill in a story line without the main hero. No one asked about Ron… Beyond small details,
the school is VERY much like the school many of you know and love.
Adventure #1 8-17-04 Phoenix School of Wizardry #1 Welcome
Raja (Brad) a rogue in the fighters school and Masubi (mark) a cleric of An’i (fire/magic) and The One Who Must Not
Be Named (Dave actually has yet to develop a name) were the three PCs in attendance. Cathy’s PC was played by the DM.
Cathy’s PC we called Cat has an anklet put on by the headmaster. Her parents have requested that she not be able to
run away from the school. Cat asked her friend to help find a way off the grounds. The party found two ways. Masubi used a
granted power to mask her anklet and Raja was able to pick the lock. After the party was able to free her they decided to
venture into town, on a Weekend of course. They often split up and went into places of business for alchemy, sages, linguists,
taverns as well as a few other shops. Upon returning to the school the party went off the beaten path NEAR the forbidden forest
(not in) and ran into a few wandering monsters (snakes). After defeating the encounters the party returned to the school.
Adventure #2 9-7-2004 The Missing Professor
Well much socializing was completed & hopefully fun by all. Sucisima and Donavan were introduced to the school. Sucisima
was at the first adventure in physical form. She is the troubled youth with all of those tardy slips hovering around her head.
Donavan was an astral projection for this one. Once Eskil finishes his final father & son camping trip Donavan can start
his rangering schooling. In summary: The party broke into Prof. Quirril’s office and after some difficulty found him
bound up and gagged in his office behind a shimmering wall. Meanwhile Raja, with Stawgoh’s financial support pulled
off a prank on Prof. Lockhart (librarian) and an unsuspecting peer in the nature of a projectile book.
Adventure #3 10-12-04 The proof is in the schedule
The party was handed detailed schedules. They listed period times and classes. The party went through a typical school
week. The meat shields schedule varies greatly from the wizards as well as each specialty school. Then the party again attempted
to get Sucima off of school grounds, once that was accomplished, they decided to go in the forbidden forest. They ran into
some orcs defeated them with some difficulty. The party then met Vorloran, a centaur; she thanks them for eliminating the
orcs from the woods and imbued all the parties’ weapons as +1 until they violate the forest. On the way out of the deep
woods, they ran into some strange beast who dropped several party members before the party finished them off.
DM commentary: The ‘meat shield’ needs to be renamed. More like damager, which could be a problem later on,
in a wizard party where AOO (attacks of opportunity) arise. The players have shown an interest in continuing the Phoenix school,
when we want to return to the Fool’s errand campaign simply let me know.
To clarify ‘violating the forest’ is beyond burning a leaf, making a fire of dead sticks is also ok behavior,
burning a living tree is NOT.
Adventure #4 11-16-2004 Research: Do you believe everything you read.
The party was doing some research in the Phoenix school library and stumbled on some potentially useful information. The
three Wizards in the party all found some items that can aid in creating magic items; Strawgoh found quartz crystals are used
in MANY items, Sucia found the ettercap’s silk gland is also frequently used for making various magic items and Masubi
found the fire bettle's stomach is used for fire producing items. The meat shield continues to refuse the namesake.
The party further researched the local area for possible locations to find said items. Some cave/mining shafts were discussed
but detailed locations were not in the descriptions. The party went into Loc-Nar and paid a cartographer to detail several
caves that matched the descriptions in the area around the Phoenix school. The party then went to the ‘hot’ cave
in hopes of finding fire beetles, they found four and after one party member dropped the party slayed and dissected them.
The party then rested and went for the mining shafts. After looking into several one showed more promise. The 80 foot drop
took several ropes and several acrobatic climbs to reach the bottom were a large group of kobolds had two quartz crystals
on them. The party considered looking for more but knew the Phoenix school's punishment for missing class the next morning
would not be worth staying out late, so they headed home.

Notes for the upcoming adventure #5 set for 2-8-05
The Phoenix Alumni Newsletter ©
Greetings to all of the Phoenix alumni,
As all of you know I have kept a close eye on our beloved school. It has had its ups and downs like many other
institutions. We all have been very concerned every since Albus took over. Many of our honor traditions were seen as barbaric
hazing. I am just glad my son was able to make it through the poisoned burning blood ritual before it was banned …
(This goes on for several pages)…
I am most happy to announce that my son has started a petition at our beloved school. The petition requests the
staff to ban all sorcerers from entering school grounds and expel any students who have somehow made it into the facility.
It further requests that The Phoenix school of Wizardry prohibit any future contact with that foul group of insane spell casters.
My son has taken on this task gladly in an attempt to do what is best for the school through typical channels before we take
this issue up with the board of directors. I am sure the current students will show the staff exactly how they feel about
sorcerers as well.
Sincerely,
Lucius Malfoy

#5 The Petition (the VRusk)
3 of the adventure specific goals…
1) Find an Ettercap silk gland
2) Infiltrate the brotherhood of wizardry scholars
3) Get a VRusk antenna
Several things happened BEFORE the adventure even started. Lucius Malfoy
wrote an open letter to the alumni association calling for the school to ban all contact with sorcerers. (see Phoenix Alumni
Newsletter attachment). Also Sucia was called into Dumbledore’s office for a disciplinary meeting. Many rumors spread
about what happened in that meeting. Some thought she received 20 lashings, others no library access for a month, and still
others thought she would not be allowed out of her room except for classes for the rest of semester. No one but Dumbledore
and Sucia know for sure.
The adventure started on a Thursday, with Draco Malfoy (Lucius’s
son) coming up to the party with a petition. The petition calls on the staff to ban all contact with sorcerers. The party
had some minor reservations, then signed away. Friday after poor petition participation from the student body, Draco invited
the party to join him in his quest to rid the school of those foul minded spell casters. He was not sure if he could rely
on them since they were one year behind him in school. So he asked if there was anything they could do to prove their worth.
The party previously thought the Ettercap would be too tough for them but with a REAL meat shield like Crabbe and a second
year like Draco the Ettercap would not stand a chance, and they were right… (Raja did help Sucia get her anklet off
again)
The party went to the Ettercap caverns and walked into a large empty cave
with an opening across the room. Strawgoh ‘spotted’ an opening in the wall above the entry the party entered although
it was 10 ft above the ground. The party investigated the hole and followed it to what appeared to be a back room that looked
like it might circle around to the entrance to the first room they entered. They talked about trying flanking maneuvers and
reconsidered. They moved in and found to no ones surprise a group of giant spiders and an Ettercap. With some dangerous fighting
the party defeated them, much of the credit belonging to Crabbe. The party then divided up several magic items.
At this point Draco felt more comfortable with party since they seemed
to be able to hold their own with the giant spiders. He told them he was searching for a Vrusk’s antennae.
(The party knew little about Vrusk, other than the fact that they are
insectoid in nature and have great divination powers. Some well-known divination specialist use Vrusk antennae in the shaft
of their wand.) Sucia was concerned so she researched Vrusk in the library before the next outing. One important thing for
her was that Vrusk were known for not being predators and seemed good-natured sentient beings.
The party went back to the school and rested for a night. The next day
they went into town and followed Draco to the Rusty Nail. A gambling table was centered in the main room and some well-dressed
sailors were playing some card game of chance. Draco asked to speak with Captain Blood and wondered if he knew where to find
a VRusk. Little respect was given for the boy until he mentioned his name. At that point, the pirate seemed to know his father.
A rough iron slab/bar was laid on the table and a note was given to Draco under the direction not to mention his source or
ever bring the antennae back here. The party then followed Draco down a twisted path south of Loc-Nar. Eventually they entered
a clearing next to a hillside. A large oak door was in the hillside and many strange apparatuses were along the hill/wall.
Draco knocked on the door and a strange humanoid with reptilianlike features slide open an eye hole and asked what sort of
divination was required, Draco whispered a question and a drawer slid out of the door. The husk of a small insect was in the
drawer. The humanoid told Draco to come back in 24 hours and insert the insect’s husk legs into the lock mechanism.
It would fit in lock, third left from the door and his answer will be written on a scroll in the tube that will be opened
when the insect is turned clockwise 90 degrees. After finding out the procedure used at this divination site, Draco asked
the party for ideas on how to gain entrance. Masubi of course wanted to BURN the door down but many thought that this would
take considerable time and possible cause the VRusk to flee. Sucia offered a previously hidden talent of telekinesis. She
walked up to the door and the door opened, a bar on the other side of the door seemed to have been removed by Sucia’s
mind. The humanoid was nowhere to be seen his desk was vacant. The party rushed in and went down a long corridor to a large
room with a huge curtain dividing the room in half. A VRusk was on the other side. His rainbow antennae and huge insect body
surprised some of the party. Draco threatened the Vrusk with the loss of an antenna or it’s life. So the Vrusk ripped
one of its own antennae off and handed it to Draco. Draco then mentioned something about weight limits and Crabbe taking all
of it and seeing them back at school vanished into thin air.
At first the party was gripped with fear and in a little shock by this
series of events, but quickly became more shocked when the VRusk ripped off his other antenna and handed it to Sucia. It began
speaking telepathically to the party and said, I saw into the future and knew Draco could not have defeated me, but in the
process my brood would have been lost (The party now see a large group of small insects behind the VRusk, apparently it’s
offspring. The Vrusk explains that many of his associates/friends are sorcerers and he want to help you. As long as his untreated
antennae is within 100 yards of Draco’s it will not function properly. This is due in part to the nature of the items.
The VRusk tells you its name is Salistkatuskitiasjahdfjkadahgafdahjgahfgahdgfahjdgfahgfahjafdhagfasjl but that is too hard
to pronounce so you may think of him as Sal. He consoles Sucia by telling her in a few months his antennae will grow back.
The party departs and starts to ponder their next move. The Brotherhood of Wizardry Scholars (BOWS) now has a device that
can detect sorcerers. (You know that Draco must invest in 40 hours of preparation to make the antenna fully functional.)
The Petition
The below signed students of The Phoenix School of Wizardry and Wardering hereby swear that we DO
NOT WANT any sorcerers to enter the school grounds and expel any students who have somehow made it into the facility. We further
request that The Phoenix School of Wizardry and Wardering prohibit any future contact with that foul group of insane spell
casters.

#6 Crystal wonderland (was B.O.W.S. meet and greet but did not get to
it)
The party spent some time enjoying the extra space with two last minutes
cancellations. (DM used the playroom and two large tables) Then they spent a little more time making sure their characters
were fully updated with feats and modifiers/bonuses. The DM was also busy with the DM JR since Mrs DM is expecting in Oct
and not feeling 100%. SOOOOO once all of that was said and done we began the adventure. Sucia attempted to manipulate Draco
Malfoy into some unknown situation. Once this did not work, the party planned on going to the next B.O.W.S. Meeting. The meeting
was on Sunday so they had a little time to kill. Raja had guard duty Thursday night, so he talked the party into leaving Friday
night and see if they could acquire a few more quarts crystals for her counter wand, so it would be finished before Malfoys
sorcerer detection wand is operational. The party recalled finding some in a mineshaft and not fully exploring the caves that
went off in several directions. They went to the minefield and found the same hole they previously went down and found a trap.
The trap was a corridor filled with kobolds and an orc. After some considerable effort (many PCs becoming arrowed pincushions)
the party defeated them. They found a quartz crystal on the orc and some nice arrows. The party continued on and picked a
path that became shorter and shorter and shorter. Eventually the hallway ended in a door. A table next to the door had candy
"Eat me" The party par took and shrunk down and entered a "Wonderland" ©. They wandered around spoke to a centipede (Naga)
avoided a pair of singing twins and after shrinking and growing a few times picked up a second quartz crystal. They then decided
to leave so to make sure they would made it to the first B.O.W.S. meeting…

#7 Centaur Council and B.O.W.S. meet and greet
The party met Vorloran, the female centaur again as they were heading back into the Phoenix school. She said she
would take them on a once in a lifetime trip if they were game. She brought the party to a centaur council meeting shrunk
on her back (using candy from wonderland). The council seemed strange for what many people think of when they see centaurs.
They were quite emotional. A spell caster changed the smoke of a bonfire into a view screen of sorts to describe a party of
adventurers that the centaurs have an issue with. It seems this party killed the Centaur prince and it is just now, two years
later that the centaurs were able to assemble. They discussed few options. A large centaur named Yu-gi-oh declared a blood
oath to hunt this party down until he or they were killed. Vorloran did not seem very emotional and walked away form the council
once others joined in the blood oaths. She mentioned to the party that she was not too fond of Prince Scar. He seemed to have
offended her sister in some way.
The party then returned to school and found out that the B.O.W.S. meeting was moved to Wednesday night at 8pm.
This time gave them some moments to ponder how to present themselves at the meetings. Sucia recalled an obscure fact about
graduation from the Phoenix school and wonder if an oath rod would be present. If an oath rod was present how could they lie
and not go insane or kill their friend. After some research/identify spells Sucia realized her new wand will negate any oath
made in the next turn but it drains five charges per person. The party went to the Brotherhood of Wizardry Scholars and were
immediately asked as a collective group to swear an oath holding a rod that they would work to rid the school then Trell of
Sorcerers. Sucia wand seemed to work and the part learn who the B.O.W.S. has been suspecting and what clues they were looking
for. Sucia later gathered some additional information from Draco Malfoy. A List will be posted at a later date…
01/19/2006 #8 Girltalk:
Sucia and Masubi were asked to look into the social lives of several
suspected sorcerer classmates. Sucia had several ‘girl talk’ chats
with Lavender Brown and found out she was a sorceress. Then gave her some clues
on avoiding the BOWS detection. Some other detective work went on that may lead
to Adv #9…
Adv #9 5 /18/2006
3.5 Conversion and Spring break
Masubi has shared with the party his desire for anything flaming. HE is now interested in hot rocks, the details were a little vague; someone should check what is in the
incense candles in the elemental classrooms. Masubi
seems to have his eyes on a great beachfront vacation spot, very warm even in winter.
During one of his lectures, his professor mentioned some volcanic caves on the coast and Masubi asked for more specific
physical description of the place. After looking on a map for other vague details
he talked the party into a spring break, “enjoy the beach and maybe a little adventure.” On the way the party ran into several wandering monsters (an ettercap & 2 huge spiders, walking near
a sandworm etc…) but survived and finally made it to the beach the following day.
Once on the beach, Sucia went to work on her tan w/o the party. The party
went on without her two hours further south and found a cave entrance. IT seemed
‘untouched’. Several undead greeted the party and a hard fought victory
was won once 3 turned & 2 crushed undead were left. (A time stop was provided
due to the real time)
#10 The party sacked the caves killing various monsters
and finding a horde of magical books...
