Adv # 5        Cleaning house  AKA        THE END         11/14/09

 

Well I will detail out Adv #5 below but before that I have a few minor comments...

- I think I was too loose on my party template...  I often TRY to be loose to add indvidualism for FUN but this party has been doomed to self destruction for some time now... Several party members were diametrically opposed and I need to take the blame/creadit for allowing that to happen...

 

Tonight the DM time stop ended... 

Jeddak joined the party (he had been following the party last adv one member noticed him I not sure if that was passed on to anyone else) 

 

Thraxas was MIA (sorry John, know your were sick) without a character sheet he decided to stay with the wagon and after killing quite a few Koa-toa the mind flayer stunded him and his brain was sucked out.

 

The party sort of decided to go down the shaft and check this out.. AMrsette and Jeddak were both interested in climbing down the rope once Marsette had climbed down part way and saw Jeddak following she started climbing back up to allow him to search the spikes...  THIS IS WHEN THE $hit hit the FAN...

Blix with little or no warning cut the rope on Marsette and Jeddak, Klondike saw this and tried to kick Blix.  the rope was cut and fell.  Luckily Marsette caught herself on the wall and climbed up back into the hallway.  Hanna and Klondike were fighting with Blix, the rest of the party was trying to calm the party issues.  Marsette mentioned focusing the issue with Smeal.  Smeal lightning bolted Klondike and Marsette... This started a long fight which dropped Klondike, Marsette, Jeddak and Psyche (Many ligtning bolts/ magic missles, fireballs later).  Psyche was healed back up and finally Smeal was dropped...  A few rounds after this the occupants of the coplex decided to mop up and after a group of Kua-Toa were killed, a beholder and a mind flayer killed Blix and Psyche, Hanna somehow managed to escape with thoughts of returning to clean the place out...    Campaign intro:

Welcome to Confidential Deliveries inc. (of Asilo in SW Trell)

            You have been hired by Haldor, he is a dwarf with a keen eye for good workers.  The Masters, as he likes to refer to his superiors have great confidence in his abilities, or so he likes to boast.  Oddly enough every employee seems to have a quirk or two ;)

            He looks for new help every now and then when an employee has left always on good terms (they have earn enough $ for whatever goal they set).  Never has a wagoneer died or even injured according to all fellow employee.  It is the perfect gig, if you ask your coworkers, good pay reasonable hours and above all little risk.  The route the wagon takes must be the safest road in all of Trell.

It was a lovely day on the third day of March in the year 123 ATGTOF

-We arrived promptly at guard station LBV at 0800

-Lars performed his duties without incident at 0805

-We left sight of the city at 0815

- 3 wagon trains passed us w/ 2 guards on each wagon wearing stud leather

- blah blah blah

- Entering the mountain pass at 1000

- blah blah blah

- Passed 3 mountain goats and the 5 hr rock marker five minutes later at 1305

- Made it to our destination without incident at 1400 on the dot

- Three goats moved farther up the mountain

- Arrived home five minutes early at 1800

- So and So cleaned the wagon while so and so took care of the Erdlings

Many details vary depending on the day

 

The rules of the job:

1. No one touches the chest

2. No one talks about the cargo

3. No one stops the wagon

4. No one gets the chest but the designated destination

5. Never leave the path provided by the map (see the map attached)

 

FAQ:

Only clean cut well groomed people were chosen, People who can easily get up before 0700 no matter how much partying was done the previous night

The wagon is quite large and appears brand new

The chest is a solid oak iron bound chest 3X4X5 with a key hole, no key has been seen

Six Erdlings names Ester, Igit, Burnus, Maggy, Harden, and Devon drive the wagon.

Two ‘spare’ Erdlings await any need for replacements (presently unnamed)

The wagon seem quite a bit ‘loaded’ with the chest until delivery

The first part of the trip is taken at a rate of 30 ft, 2nd part at 40ft

A empty chest (still locked? Untouched) is loaded onto the wagon after delivery and exchanged with a full one the following day

Lars is a Spell caster known for doing work for the city & is a well trusted

Lars & the chest are delivered with a captain of the guard & 10 guards

Average pay in city 2-3 cp(ceramic pieces) this pays 25cp a week

 

You either came to or live near Asilo a MAJOR city in SW Trell (see main map link)

Adv #1 summary

September 20th, 2009

The party was ran through a 'typcial' day on the boring job.  They introduced themselves to each other. 

 

The party was having a typcial day as usual when they ran into a rock slide, the second one of the day at the same spot, whcih seemed odd.  A few notcied some giants running up to them and a fight ensued.  Marsette put a bugbear to sleep and charmed another.  Hanna killed a few with arrows.  Klondike, Thraxas and  slew a few in melee while Jaddak heal the giant.  

Blix put up an obscuring mist to protect the erdlings and Pysche sang a song of courage.  They were quickly defeated. a few trinkets were found among the dead and Jaddak seemed to find strange pleasure dismembering the dead... The next day an odd thing happened Lars was not their and his repalcement did not send off good vibes...  Blix followed Smeal in the town but lost him, he belives through some arcane spells.  Then going to Lars' shop he finds it magically locked.  Blix returns to the wagon just outside of town where they open the chest.  the 1/4ling become cursed with a black doorway on their shoulder (? tatoo) but the chest ios open and a urn is found, once opened, the party finds some artifact dust theat seems to have come from some kind of tablet? 

the party stops to discuss their next move 

OPTIONS MENTIONED: included taking the urn/chest to the eyedoors maybe a few minutes late, or investigate Smeal some more look into Lars...

Wagoneers adv #2        10/4/09

 Just out of town the party was discussing what to do next.  Jeddak said he wanted to retire a rich man with no failed deliveries during his tour.  The party agreed and started off for the door of eyes. Thraxas was a little uncomfortable with the breaking of the rules and decided to use a sick day;) so he went back to the tents and took a nap.

 Just before getting to the doors, the observant party members noticed a horde of minotaurs that seemed to be assaulting the cavern.  Klondike walked right up to the minotaurs (clearly he has taken this road many times on autopilot).  A fight ensued; Klondike was quickly dropped and then healed by Jeddak (some questioned Jeddak healing a ‘giant’ before they recalled Klondike would help the party deliver the urn/chest).  Jeddak was dropped by a minotaur and wounds were bound by psyche.  The fight was a bit of a struggle, several well placed arrows helped put an end to the 3 minotaurs that came out to fight the party. The party was concerned the ‘other’ minotaurs were about to take them out… One minotaur was not moving in the cave entrance.  Later they found him to be paralyzed and many other minotaurs in various degrees of death, some without a mark on them, some turned into stone.  The door of eyes was severely damaged with at least six eyes poked out and bled profusely. 

 The party stripped the minotaur bodies and piled up their armor and weapons on the path, and loaded Jeddak into the wagon.

Quickly the 1/4ling got into the chest rigged it not to lock and had Klondike deliver it to the doors.  The doors did their things albeit slower than normal (damaged?) and swallowed up the chest.  Once in Blix opened up the chest and saw two Kua-Toas carrying the chest.  A short time later the lip popped open as the chest entered a pool.  The Kua-Toa raced for the urn and continued into the water as the 1/4lings flew into a large cavernous room.  Luckily the only two who spotted them did not resurface.  Pysche hid while Blix snuck up to the door of eyes.  Where he then polymorphed into a Kua-toa and opened the door. 

  Meanwhile the party thought it would take some time for the 1/4ling to return, they were turning the wagon around and loading up the minotaur loot for a quick getaway ;)

 After some time gaining the parties attention, they entered the cavern and eliminated the Kua-Toas who were on the outside as the doors were closed.  The party then jumped into the wagon and headed back for town and divided the loot on the way back.


 

Adventure #3               Predators or Prey            10/18/09

The DM Time stop ended with the party taking the wagon to the edge of the city to regroup.  Jeddak was unconscious in the wagon, several members were injured and many spells were not available after being cast today…

The party was discussing their options when Thraxas rejoined the group and mentioned seeing a large group of centaurs at C.D. inc.  He did not meet them but overheard them talking to Haldor and sounded like bounty hunters.  The party was of various thoughts… Blix wanted to share his scribe notes with Haldor but also considered going into town, and hid in the wagon.  Klondike also wanted to go into town but with his newly found double-digit intelligence decided to stay with the party.  Thraxas wanted to continue avoiding the bounty hunters so he headed to town and also rethought his decision and was attempting to rejoin the party again.  The party arrived seeing at least 6 centaurs at C.D.inc office with a leader type (Therm) talking with Haldor.  Klondike took the Erdlings into the stables as he always does.

Haldor said, “This is none of my business”, and shut the door as the head centaur introduced himself as the leader of a group of registered bounty hunters here for three known vigilantes.  Klondike, Blix and Thraxas.  (not to mentioned that the Klondike wanted posters are out of date and no reward would be coming and another party member who has VERY distinct look was not spotted)  He did not want to share all of the details but said Klondike was worth 300cp alive 150 dead.  The party (Hanna) offered them 200 cp to come back tomorrow at noon and they happily agreed.  As they left Thraxas charged out but the centaurs seemily ignored him.  The party rested to heal and regain spells.  Blix ran into town that night.

The next morning a majority of the party (Marsette Blix Psyche Klondike Hanna) went into town to check on Lars.  Jeddak went into town to see what he could find out about Haldor, later reporting he heard nothing but good things...  Lars’, shop was closed and magically locked.  Klondike forced the door open by breaking the hinges.  The party entered the back room after tearing a magically locked curtain.  Lars’s room had a rug, bookcase, chest and bed with Lars lying on it is some form of magically stasis.  The party searched for valuables( OF COURSE in order to fund and magical cures for Lars)   Klondike picked up his body and brought it over to the neighbor, Blues’ Clues.  Blue is a Trell renowned GIANT wizard.  Blue seemed to know Klondike and was happy to revive him in exchange for a favor;).  The party was much relieved at the cost (for some strange reason much of Lars items were not returned, he was informed that his place had been ransacked BEFORE the party got there.  Lars shooed the party out so he could make some repairs but no before lifting his rug and beaming with joy at his treasure hoard being undisturbed.

The party all regrouped at C.D. inc around 11AM in anticipation of Therm’s return.  Jeddak made some spike traps between the two buildings to alleviate flanking maneuvers.  Shortly after noon Therm galloped in with only two other centaurs.  Marsette quickly charmed one centaur.  The party all focused on Therm and dropped him in round two.  Two centaurs came in the following  round and the archers were firing arrows from the far side.  Marsette charmed another centaur and those two (2 of the toughest) protected her from a third…  Thraxas was in his tent at noon but quickly heard combat and took out an archer and greatly wounded another before being down by 1/4ling arrows.  The whole time the red/blue blur uhh I mean squadron was firing arrows from the roof top.   Klondike and Jeddks were in melee with the initial group and circled around to the archers once they were down.  Hanna started near Marsette and was firing arrows at multiple foes.  All in all a quick combat.

The party debated what to do with the charmed ones and eventually talked them into leaving.  A reasonable treasure hoard was divided  by all…

Adv # 4            Smeal Who?               11/01/09

 

Jeddack was busy cleaning up the centaur mess.  He seemed very busy so the party left him to his business and several rested after the fight while Hanna went into town to trade some items for some potions.  She felt she could have gotten more but seemed happy cleaning out the alchemist and getting some from the water temple.

 

Blix easily found the meeting place which seemed oddly close to Lars place…  Smeal ‘appeared’ behind Blix in the alley with an associate (it was later revealed that another associate was present but apparently invisible during the meeting).  Blix and brought Thraxas with him but he seemed nearly unaware of Smeal’s presence most of the time.

After some negotiating Smeal agreed to a 40/60 split of all things found behind the door of eyes as long as he can get the party safely past the door and his continued aid to the party.

 

The party had some discussion on the ‘deal’ Blix has made with Smeal, no firm resolution was made other than the issue can be ‘renegotiated’ later depending on the situation.  The party then rest… until noon the following day

 

Smeal arrived with an erdling (some speculation about Smeal’s erdling being a associates). The party then walked to the cave with no encounters of note…

 

Thraxas walked up alone to the door and apparently was very tired from the walk due to falling into a deep (magical) sleep.

Smeal waited for the party to enter on their own in attempts to prove his WORTH.  He cast several spells including improved invisibility and opened up a corridor right next to the door.  The party entered and routed the Koa-Toa in the room with some help from Smeal.  Psyche opened one doorway leading into caves…  Psyche stopped, seeing no threat??? 

 

The double doors were opened to no threat (but to avoid the water), they went up the stairs after 140ft a landing lead to a long corridor with door on one side.  Thraxas and Blix heard some snoring coming from the first door.  Thraxas then busted down the door and killed the sleeping slave (opps I mean Cthulian priest)  As Blix and Thraxas were discussing the identity of the slain sleeper… Two heads poked out of the doors further down the hall.  Thraxas charged as Marsette attempted to charm one of them.  They both ran off (one nearly cut down by Thraxas).  The next round they continued running down a long hallway running past two trap doors into a room.  Once in the room they appeared to float/fly up out of sight (above the doorway)  Thraxas was slowed down by the second trapped door, after jumping the first and Klondike chased the two stepping easily over the trap doors.   He saw a room without a ceiling and two figures over 60 feet in the air.   He threw a rock and seriously injured one of the two… then they shouted “Cthulu Saves!” and the door closed onto Klondike and the floor trap IN the room opened up.   Thraxas stayed back and took out a two weapon wielding man in the hallway who stepped out as he ran past with an assist from Hanna and Psyche’s song in the air.  The ¼lings flew up the shaft and figured out that the switch in the room below activated a camouflage hatch to the outside… The two who flew up were not spotted…

 

The Party was DM TIME STOPPED in the hallway deciding how to proceed, wanting to clean out the complex and attempt to do it before a defensive game plan could be implemented.
